"Ce l'hai cento dollari?", "Anna pensa tipo che...", "tu in questa cosa non devi centrare". Si parla così l'italiano oggi? Sì, certo, non solo, ma anche così. Molti libri hanno mostrato come le lingue evolvano attraverso i secoli. Lorenzo Renzi illustra qui le dinamiche del cambiamento considerando l'italiano d'oggi. La lingua che parliamo pullula di innovazioni, delle quali il più delle volte non siamo coscienti. Ma siamo noi, i parlanti, che possiamo accettarle o respingerle. Come per le specie naturali, anche la lingua avanza attraverso novità, stabilizzazioni e rifiuti.

Amb l’avinentesa del centenari de les Normes ortogràfiques, Francesc Vallverdú ha aplegat nou articles i comunicacions en la publicació Apunts i contrapunts sociolingüístics. Són treballs sobre sociolingüística, de procedència molt diversa, i tots fets públics en els últims deu anys. Es tracta de pinzellades de diversa magnitud i intensitat a qüestions sociolingüístiques d’actualitat: des dels principals reptes amb què es troba la sociolingüística fins al nou marc que s’està perfilant per a la llengua catalana, passant per altres aspectes de la normalització lingüística. Amb aquesta obra, Vallverdú pretén estimular la reflexió teòrica i pràctica sobre problemes que avui interessen i preocupen la societat catalana.

Les dysfonctionnements langagiers chez les enfants relèvent par définition de l'approche médicale et se déclinent selon des paradigmes de la psycholinguistique et de la neurologie. Cependant l'augmentation significative du nombre d'enfants dysphasiques permet d'interroger la dimension anthropologique : comment se transmet traditionnellement la langue maternelle ? Que signifierait une rupture dans sa transmission ? Cet ouvrage questionne ce rôle de la transmission de la langue maternelle, en interrogeant notamment la fonction patrimoniale du langage. A partir d'une présentation clinique des dysfonctionnements langagiers (dysphasie, autisme) et de la présentation d'un phénomène émergent, la violence verbale entre enfants et adultes, l'analyse conduit à proposer le concept de Détresse langagière comme concept englobant à la fois ce qui relève du médical et des phénomènes de la vie ordinaire où des enfants sont en détresse en langue orale. L'approche anthropologique met en avant une rupture culturelle : à la différence des pratiques de transmission de textes patrimoniaux appris par coeur, tant dans les cultures à tradition écrite que dans celles à tradition orale, il y aurait un arrêt de cette pratique dans notre société contemporaine. Cela conduit les auteurs à problématiser nos pratiques énonciatives culturelles : si ces dernières semblent se réduire à l'oral (réduction de la transmission des épopées, des chansons, des poésies), le champ ouvert par Internet donne à penser qu'apparaissent de nouvelles conduites culturelles qui incarnent peut-être une certaine manière de répondre aux situations de détresse langagière. Par ses dimensions pluridisciplinaires, ce livre interroge nos pratiques culturelles langagières. Il s'adresse à la fois au corps médical et au corps enseignant.

The last decade has seen a rise in popularity in construction-based approaches to grammar. The various approaches within the rubric 'construction grammar' all see language as a network of constructions-pairings of form and meaning. Construction Grammar, as a kind of cognitive linguistics, differs significantly from mainstream generative grammar as espoused by Chomsky and his followers. Advocates of Construction Grammar see it as a psychologically plausible theory of human language. As such, it is capable of providing a principled account of language acquisition, language variation and language change. Research in Construction Grammar also includes multidisciplinary cognitive studies in psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and computational linguistics.

The Oxford Handbook of Construction Grammar is the first authoritative reference work solely dedicated to Construction Grammar. Divided into five sections, the book will be an invaluable resource that students and scholars alike can turn to for a comprehensive account of current work on Construction Grammar, its theoretical foundations, and its applications to and relationship with other kinds of linguistic enquiry.
 

The issue of intercultural learning has been tackled, amongst others, in the fields of education, language education and applied linguistics. In spite of the extensive literature on the subject, there is still much which needs to be done to address the ways in which linguistics itself can contribute to intercultural education. The 8 chapters by internationally-renowned scholars highlight different ways of using it both in the classroom and in researching intercultural education. The following approaches are covered: Critical Discourse Analysis, Énonciation, Conversation Analysis and Pragmatics. The introduction to the volume also offers a useful and comprehensive survey of the debates around the polysemic notion of the ‘intercultural’. The book will appeal to an international readership of students, scholars and professionals across a wide range of disciplines, interested in making intercultural education more effective.

This book explores the construction of identities within a lesbian group, outlining interactive tactics used in the production of mutually-negotiated norms of authenticity. Using ethnography and discourse analysis, a range of group-specific personae are revealed to be continually reworked and reproduced within the women's interaction.

Classifier constructions are universal to sign languages and exhibit unique properties that arise from the nature of the visual-gestural modality. The major goals are to bring to light critical issues related to the study of classifier constructions and to present state-of-the-art linguistic and psycholinguistic analyses of these constructions. It is hoped that by doing so, more researchers will be inspired to investigate the nature of classifier constructions across signed languages and further explore the unique aspects of these forms.

The papers in this volume discuss the following issues:
*how sign language classifiers differ from spoken languages;
*cross-linguistic variation in sign language classifier systems;
*the role of gesture;
*the nature of morpho-syntactic and phonological constraints on classifier constructions;
*the grammaticization process for these forms; and
*the acquisition of classifier forms.
Divided into four parts, groups of papers focus on a particular set of issues, and commentary papers end each section.
