    Euskararen historia

Hizkuntzaren historiaurrea –ustez aldi luzea izan zena eta ilun samarra ere zenbaitetan– Joseba A. Lakarrak (UPV/EHU) aztertu du; Joaquín Gorrochategui (UPV/EHU) arduratu da antzinaroari buruzko kapituluaz; Patxi Salaberrik (UPNA) Erdi Aroko euskara aztertu du; eta Céline Mounole (UPPA-IKER) eta Joseba A. Lakarra (UPV/EHU) arduratu dira euskara arkaikoa aztertzeaz (1400-1600). Antzinako euskarari eta euskara modernoari dagokienez, 1600 eta 1745 artean ezarri dira haien muga kronologikoak. Céline Mounole eta Ricardo Gómez (UPV/EHU) arduratu dira aldi hau batera aztertzeaz. Blanca Urgellek (UPV/EHU) hasierako euskara modernoari erreparatu dio, 1745 eta 1876 urteen arteko aldia hartzen duena; aldiz, bigarren (edo azken) euskara modernoaren azterketaz, 1745 eta 1876. urteen arteko aldiaz, Iñaki Camino (UPV/EHU) arduratu da. Amaitzeko, Pello Salaburuk (UPV/EHU) bere gain hartu du euskara garaikidearen azterketa. Nabarmentzekoa da hainbat historialariren ekarpena liburuaren zenbait kapitulutan: Mikel Aizpuru, Juan José Larrea eta Xabier Zabaltza, denak UPV/EHUko kideak. Zalantzarik gabe, liburuaren helburu nagusia da oinarrizko erreferentzia bat eskaintzea euskararen historia ezagutu nahi duten pertsonei. Euskalaritza garatzeko, ezinbestekoa zen eskura dugun informazio historikoa era monografikoan biltzea. Gainera, hainbat ikuspegitatik zen ezinbestekoa: euskal filologiako ikasleek beharrezkoa zuten hizkuntzaren historiari buruz urtetan metatutako jakintza egoki antolatuko zuen obra bat; ikertzaileek ere sintesi bat behar zuten, euskararen bilakaeraren ikuspegi global bat eta hizkuntzak denboran zehar izan dituen aldaketei buruzko informazio esanguratsua emango zuena; azkenik, beharrezkoa ikusten zen ere liburu bat eskaintzea gure hizkuntzan interesatuta dauden pertsonei, euskarak historian izan duen bilakaera xehetasunez laburbilduko duena era ordenatu eta erakargarri batean.

  • The changing landscape of Spanish language curricula

The changing landscape of Spanish language curricula

Spanish remains a large and constant fixture in the foreign language learning landscape in the United States. As Spanish language study has grown, so too has the diversity of students and contexts of use, placing the field in the midst of a curricular identity crisis. Spanish has become a second, rather than a foreign, language in the US, which leads to unique opportunities and challenges for curriculum and syllabus design, materials development, individual and program assessment, and classroom pedagogy. In their book, Brown and Thompson address these challenges and provide a vision of Spanish language education for the twenty-first century. Using data from the College Board, ETS, and the authors' own institutions, as well as responses to their national survey of almost seven hundred Spanish language educators, the authors argue that the field needs to evolve to reflect changes in the sociocultural, socioeducational, and sociopolitical landscape of the US. The authors provide coherent and compelling discussion of the most pressing issues facing Spanish post-secondary education and strategies for converting these challenges into opportunities. Topics that are addressed in the book include: Heritage learners, service learning in Spanish-speaking communities, Spanish for specific purposes, assessment, unique needs for Spanish teacher training, online and hybrid teaching, and the relevance of ACTFL's national standards for Spanish post-secondary education. An essential read for Spanish language scholars, especially those interested in curriculum design and pedagogy, that includes supporting reflection questions and pedagogical activities for use in upper-level undergraduate and graduate-level courses.

    Euskara batuaren eskuliburua (EBE)

Duela lau urte Euskaltzaindiaren Zuzendaritzak eginiko mandatu baten emaitza da Euskara Batuaren Eskuliburu hau. Esan ziguten jaso genitzala “Euskaltzaindiak emanak dituen arauak, gomendioak eta irizpenak (morfologiakoak, sintaxikoak, ortografiakoak, onomastikakoak, hiztegikoak) eta “era didaktiko eta dibulgaziozkoan” azaltzeko. Alegia, eskatzen zitzaigun modu praktikoan eta pedagogikoan —hots, begi berriekin— birformulatzeko Euskaltzaindiak euskara batuaren inguruan orain arte esandakoak —2018-06-29— (eta, alderantziz, baita esan gabeak ere, jakina), izan haiek arau, izan gomendio, izan onespen, izan irizpen. Horren emaitza da 1.458 sarrera (fitxa) eta eranskin gehigarri batzuk dituen eskuliburu hau. Batez ere bi xede nagusi izan ditu lantaldeak abiaburu: alde batetik, Euskaltzaindiak arautua duen esparru zabal-osoa laburbiltzea, eta, bestetik, bereziki Jagonet kontsultagunearen bidez Euskaltzaindiari egin zaizkion kontsulta behinenen eta Euskaltzaindiak kontsulta horiei eman dizkien erantzunak jasotzea.

    Aristoteles : jakiteko irrika

Aristotelesek gaztetatik jakin egin nahi zuen.  Jakintzaren alderdi guztiak ezagutu nahi zituen, giza-jokabidea, politika eta etika, zein naturan ikusten zuen guztia. Izaki bizidunen arima ulertu nahi zuen Aristotelesekt eta, diziplina ezberdinetarako ikerketa metodoak aurkitu nahi zituen.

  • The sellout : a novel

    The sellout : a novel

A biting satire about a young man's isolated upbringing and the race trial that sends him to the Supreme Court, Paul Beatty's The Sellout showcases a comic genius at the top of his game. It challenges the sacred tenets of the United States Constitution, urban life, the civil rights movement, the father-son relationship, and the holy grail of racial equality—the black Chinese restaurant. Born in the "agrarian ghetto" of Dickens—on the southern outskirts of Los Angeles—the narrator of The Sellout resigns himself to the fate of lower-middle-class Californians: "I'd die in the same bedroom I'd grown up in, looking up at the cracks in the stucco ceiling that've been there since '68 quake." Raised by a single father, a controversial sociologist, he spent his childhood as the subject in racially charged psychological studies. He is led to believe that his father's pioneering work will result in a memoir that will solve his family's financial woes. But when his father is killed in a police shoot-out, he realizes there never was a memoir. All that's left is the bill for a drive-thru funeral. Fueled by this deceit and the general disrepair of his hometown, the narrator sets out to right another wrong: Dickens has literally been removed from the map to save California from further embarrassment. Enlisting the help of the town's most famous resident—the last surviving Little Rascal, Hominy Jenkins—he initiates the most outrageous action conceivable: reinstating slavery and segregating the local high school, which lands him in the Supreme Court.
